I am trying to determine which Marchbanks is referred to in John Newman Edwards book, "Shelby and his Men." Late in the book, Shelby's destruction of the railroad at Potosi, Missouri is mentioned and, right around that part of the book, the name "Marchbanks" appears. I am believing it's William, but am not sure. I thought that William was a Captain and Robert was under him with no officer rank. Can someone help me determine who the Marchbanks is that Edwards refers to?

Marchbanks is mentioned twice in the book by last name only.
