I was wondering if anyone could provide some assistance. I have been doing some genealogical research when I came across an account of my 4th Great Grandmother's brother, Avington Simpson being Killed in Polk County in 1863. The account states that he was supposedly killed by bushwhackers while tending a sick child, but gives no source for the assumption. It does state that Avington had 2 sons in the Confederacy and one in the Union. Any assistance in clarifying this story is appreciated.
