The "Laramie" name is spread in more places than we can imagine. "Laramie" is a derivation of the same family name as the guy who founded Cape Girardeau: Lorimier Lorimier. You will find his name spelled as "Larimier" or "Larimore" etc. Theoretically, the "Laramie" who died on what is now his namesake river was a cousin to Louis. (This of course has nothing to do with the Civil War :)) but is interesting all the same.
