The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Ryan Family
In Response To: Ryan Family ()

I may be able to help. Contact me direct at jamesmgray@bigpond.com.

I am also looking for any information available on Mr. Cornelius O'Callaghan Ryan, born around 1841, County Cork, Ireland who died at Kiama, New South Wales, Australia on Saturday, June 7, 1913 and was buried in the Kiama Cemetery.

Mr Ryan prior to arriving in Australia migrated to America aboard the vessel “Brooklyn”, arriving in New York; and said he had fought through the American Civil War in the Union Army under General Phil Sheridan; and afterwards returned to his native town, Wallow, Ireland.

I am trying to compile a memorial for him to be placed on the Australian Veterans Memorial website, www.acwv.info.

Any information you can provide on his birth, family and life in New South Wales will be greatly appreciated. jamesmgray@bigpond.com
