Just looking at the officer roster in the MO Adj Gen yearbook that lists a few officers by their home mailing address, one Company C officer shows home as Mainville, Ohio and a couple of D Company officers show home as Chillicothe--if by Chillicothe it means the town in Ohio rather than Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri. I see that a number of officers called Michigan and Illinois home, too. This is not sure proof, but tends to point in the Ohio direction perhaps for those two companies.
