As always thanks for your help.

You've come to the same conclusion that I have that he was first in the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the 7th Division of the Missouri State Guard and later in Fristoe's Missouri Cavalry Regiment.

The 86th Regiment just doesn't seem to make any sense and it's hard to understand how it made it on the the gravestone.
