Was stumped in 2011 as to what happened to Col Shanks after the war. Found this thread most helpful tonight ,as it points to Laramie WY instead of Colorado or Texas as a final resting place. As the sesquicentennial of his wounding, recovery and imprisonment approaches, I would like to know for sure of his death date, place of burial. In summary, would like your help in pinpointing his final resting place and his final adventure after the war.
