Many appear to be members of Co. D. 4th Missouri Infantry per Missouri soldiers database. The unit organized at Thomasville, MO in Feb. 1862. Some are the officer nucleus: Capt. John R. Woodside, 2nd Lt. Abraham M. Depriest, Sgt. C. or G. Newton Tankersley, perhaps Lt. Col. John H. White? (vs. "C. White"?) Some might be in Co. A (2nd or 4th) such as Capt. James B. Old.

There seems to be some sort of problem in the cards and or the MO database because the list of men for the unit (4th MO Inf) starts at "Nesbit" then goes on alphabetically for 310 more entries. This seems to correspond with your 2nd MO Inf, 7th MSG. Look at Co. D in particular for the people under discussion. Also see your note 206 on p. 304 (for Co. A) that mentions muster role from Samuel Newitt Wood Papers.

There are a bunch (1038) of entries in the database for "4th Regiment Infantry Volunteers CSA". I see Maulding corresponding with Co. D above.

Some had prior service at Wilson's Creek. Looks like some had been with Co. A, 2nd MO Inf, 7th MSG if I'm tracking them correctly.

A number are listed as deserting Oct. 12, 1862.
