Re: T. T. Bruse, Co. H, 2nd MO SMCAV

Thomas Bruce of Co H 2nd Regt MSM as mentioned by Mr Martin is likely also the Thomas J Bruce listed in Co C 11th regt MSM. The (new) 2nd Regt was formed from the consolidation of the 11th Regt MSM Cav with the original 2nd Regt on Sept 1, 1862. Bruce enlisted in the 11th at Macon City on Feb 3 1862 under Capt George Bearnes.

Given this piece of info best fit I can find in 1860 census records is that of Thomas Bruce Chariton County born 1835 married farmer, born TN. Wife Mary, Children Spencer, Catherine ,Samuel. He was living near Elk Springs, MO at the time.

He appears to have survived the war as he is found again in the 1870 Census in Chariton Co with wife Mary and kids Nancy, Samuel, James and William.
