I am aware of all of the cards you mention except for the one showing him as a full colonel. He served as lieutenant colonel of the 4th Infantry (originally the 2nd Infantry) until he mishandled a little expedition to Charleston in mid-August. As a result of that minor fiasco he was booted from the regiment. However, he later recruited a large cavalry company in Bollinger, Stoddard and Wayne counties, which was subsequently divided into two companies to form a battalion. He became major of that battalion. Thus, I don't think he ever attained the rank of full colonel. At least he is not shown as such in the record book of Gen. Jeff Thompson.

He ended the war as quartermaster of the 8th Missouri Cavalry Regiment (Jeffers's), CSA.
