Re: Douglas County
In Response To: Douglas County ()

Here are a number of snippets I found from a Goggle Search: Alsup Hatfield Feud

I have not been able to identify a Confederate unit in which John Hatfield served, nor any other inforation on Isaac Davis

John Hatfield, who had married the Widow Davis, was living on the old Livingstone place. He was a Civil War veteran and known to be a good shot

…..

The Alsup faction was greatly provoked over Hatfield's good intentions and prosperity. To aggravate this jealousy and discontent was the fact that one of the Alsups was a rejected suitor of the widow Davis.

M 2nd John HATFIELD b 1829 TN d 1871 Cass, Douglas, Missouri Killed by ALSUP Gang.
When Betty went to testify against John’s killer, Amos ALSUP kicked her down the Court House Steps and Alsup’s son gave her a few hundred dollars and a wagon and told her and children to be out of the county by nightfall. Moses ALSUP’s son in law, LIVINGSTON, then acquired the Davis-Hatfield farm on Fox Creek.
Her father, Joseph TODD, had left the county earlier due to the feud with the Alsups and went to Clark and Hart Twsps in Wright Co.
The Fox Creek Cemetery name was changed to Livingston Cem. At some point all but 4 of the stones were removed and current owners would not let a local committee probe to try to locate the missing stones.

Q? Where did Elizabeth go after Douglas Co. MO?
Q? What happened to Isaac and Elizabeth’s Children and Grand Children?
Q? Who was Elizabeth’s Mother?
Q? Where are Joseph TODD and wife buried?

Lots of questions, but I will appreciate any info.
