Thank you to George Martin for the report of Captain Charles B. McAfee on the skirmish in and around Neosho on October 4, 1863. As a follow-up, let me share that John Kinion never really recovered from the seizure that paralyzed the left side of his face. He lived until Christmas Day in 1898 and was never again in decent physical shape.
