Jim is correct. When Gorham resigned Von Phul may have taken over for a time, but later the battery's command was assigned to Tilden prior to the battle of Prairie Grove. In 1863, the battery's members elected Alexander A. Lesueur as its commander. Gorham did not command another battery.
