Antebellum Home Endangered

This beautiful antebellum home is on Missouri Preservation's "Places In Peril" list. It was built circa 1858 by Philip Kaes & is a St. Louis County Landmark with a colorful history. It is currently owned by Castlewood State park & has been EXTREMELY NEGLECTED with very little maintenance. While the state park system claims insufficient funds to restore the Kaes House it has spent millions of dollars to demolish other historic buildings & establishing new state parks with elaborate & expensive improvements. In addition to wanting to preserve history, I, historian Esther Ziock Carroll, of Washington County, Missouri also have a personal interest in the Kaes home as my step-father, Rudy Foree & his family lived in it for approximately 40 years until it was purchased by Castlewood State Park in 1980. This petition is a continuance of a previous petition that contained 149 signatures. It is my hope that, by signing this petition, the public will join me in this campaign to encourage the park's system to save this non-replaceable historic home before it crumbles into oblivion forever.
