This Martin E. Green of Monticello Mo. sounds like a real hard-bark Reb. He got up his own Militia in 1861 in Lewis Co. but then soon after, officially became part of the Confederate Army., and promoted to Brigadier Gen. I haven't been able to find out how or when this happened . Then He and his men fought in Central Mo. then at Pea Ridge on the Arkansas border, then at Corinth Miss. which is a good 500 mi. away, then at Vicksburg in '63 where he was killed by a bullet. He left farm and family for the Cause....
