Hickory Hill Roughs

Since Hickory Hill was just mentioned in a recent post, I thought I'd ask about the Hickory Hill Roughs.

I found a few newspaper clippings that mention Col. James A. Mulligan's Irish Brigade engaged about 300 secessionists at Hickory Hill sometime around July 28, 1861. They took prisoner Captain Miller of the Mt. Pleasant gang and Captain Ely Crish, head of the Hickory Hill Roughs, along with about 20-25 others and marched them to Jeff City. Crish is spelled 'Christ' in another article, but I think this is Eli Crisp, a farmer and blacksmith at Hickory Hill at the time.

Questions:

1) Does anybody have any info on the Hickory Hill Roughs (or Mt. Pleasant gang)?
2) Any idea on who the other 20-25 men captured were?
3) Is Mount Pleasant mentioned here the same place/area as modern Mount Pleasant Township, Bates Co., MO?

Thanks!
