Thanks - right in my interest area, geographically. To avoid overload, you'd need to ask specific questions. Pleasant Mount / Mount Pleasant was mainly southern sympathizers. The Miller family are the reason it's called Miller County. William Dixon had a store there - and hid powder. Babcock arrested him and there begins a lengthy battle of letters between Babcock and Dixon to the authorities. William Dixon's connections won out. Fold 3 Union Citizens File if you're interested.
The Crisp connection is also interesting, because that family is connected to the Hicks and they lost three family members at the Curtman's Island Massacre.
Between Hickory Hill and Pleasant Mount was the town of Locust Mound. Most of the businesses were owned by Madison Belshe, a Radical Republican.
