The Secretary of State's Soldiers Database lists James C. Burris as a Private in the Clark Township State Guard or Company B, enlisted in May 1861. I didn't see any Burris or related spellings in the officers listed on the ledgers.
FYI: Some men that have been listed in the Hickory Hill Roughs messages were in the MSG branch hospital at Bolivar at the end of August 1861 listed on the same page as men from Company A (Osage Tigers) - potentially fought at Wilson's Creek.
