Re: William O. Blackmore of Carroll County

I realize this is an old post, but it popped up during my search.

I was wondering in your research of William O Blackmore and the Bushwackers, did you find a William (Haze) Blackmore?
In my family tree information, my great grandfather's sister, Mary Jane (Coates) Blackmore is noted to be married to a William (Haze) Blackmore. Mary Jane was born in 1838. She married "Haze" in 1858. They had a daughter, Sarah.

The family story goes like this:
Mary Jane (Sannie) and her second child were murdered by her 1st husband: William "Haze" Blackmore in about 1866.

Sannie married Haze Blackmore and they had a daughter Sarah E (Sallie). When Sallie was a couple of months old, Haze joined the Bushwackers. He went to town one day and never returned home. She lived alone for 5 years before deciding that Haze was dead. Then Sallie lived with Sannie's mom and dad. Sannie remarried (name unknown). After they married, they moved to a farm north of Carthage. They later had a child and Sallie lived with them too

Late one summer, after dark, Sannie and her family were sitting around eating watermelon. Sannie looked out the window and saw Haze. She stood up with the baby in her arms in front of her second husband. Haze fatally shot her and the baby and was then never seen again.
