Daniel was the son of George Buford, Grandson of Dr. Leo Twyman of Independence. George's brother Lydall was a physician like his father and married Francis Fristoe. She wrote a memoir of the war and Order #11 that was widely circulated by the UDC. Francis' sister Bethsheba Fristoe Younger was the mother of Frank, Cole and Jim Younger.
