Organized at Springfield, Mo., August to November, 1864, for six months. Attached to District of Southwest Missouri, Dept. of Missouri, to March, 1865. 2nd Brigade, 1st Sub-District, District of Middle Tennessee, Dept. of the Cumberland, to May, 1865.

SERVICE.--Duty at Springfield, Mo., and by detachments in Douglas County, Taney County, at Stockton, Hartsville, Neosho, Cassville, Newtonia and Buffalo until March, 1865, and in District of Middle Tennessee until May, 1865. Surrender of Paris, Mo., October 15, 1864 (Detachment). Operations in Ozark County February 12, 1865 (Co. "H"). Operations about Bennett's Bayou and Tolbert's Mill, Ark., February 16-18, 1865 (Co. "H"). Mustered out March 6 to May 24, 1865.
Regiment lost during service 8 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 18 Enlisted men by disease. Total 26.

John Hutchinson, Private, Company I, 46th Missouri Infantry, enlisted September 7, 1864 at Mt. Lebanon for 6 months, mustered in at Springfield, Mo., present in Douglas County, Mo. at the time of the Jan/Feb.1865 muster, would believe ca Feb. 28, mustered out May 12,1865 at Springfield, Mo., description on enlistment: 18 year old Farmer, born at Granger, Tenn., gray hair, black eyes, dark complexion, 5’ 6”

May 12, 1865, description on enlistment: 45 year old Farmer, born in Pytthana [sp?] Va., blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion, 5’ 11”
