Edward H. Scott, 21year old Farmer, born in Kentucky, 3rd Sergeant, Company G, 6th Missouri Infantry,* enlisted January 1, 1862 at Springfield by Col. Shields for 12 months, receipted for an issue of clothing January, 1863, captured at Port Gibson, Miss. May 1, 1863, received May 13 at Military Prison, Alton, Miss., paroled and exchanged June 12, 1863 at Camp Lee, near Richmond, Va., promoted to Lieutenant in Imboden’s Cavalry, receipted for an issue of clothing June 23, signing with an ‘X’, “his mark,” recorded absent on detached service in exchange Camps of Richmond at the Jul/Aug, 1863 muster, 2nd Sergeant on JanFeb, 1864 muster roll, promoted and attached Virginia Cavalry May/Jun, 1864

* This company formerly served as Company B, Hughes’ Battalion Missouri Infantry: It became Company H, 6th Regiment Missouri Infantry, about August 23, 1862

Edward H. Scott, age 25, 1st Lieutenant, Capt. C. H. Woodson’s Cavalry Company, Missouri Volunteers,** joined for service and enrolled July 1, 1863 at Richmond, Va. for the war, POW paroled at Haraisonburg, Va. May 1 to 11, 1865, age 25(?), fair complexion, dark hair, grey eyes

Note: “This Company has no Horses: the majority of the men lost their Horses in Mo. while in service

** This company was organized at Richmond, Va., in July, 1863, out of Missouri men who were paroled prisoners of war. It served as an independent company, although it was also known as Company A, 1st Regiment Missouri Volunteers and was at various times attached to different organizations
