Re: Cantey collection under Emory Cantey

In response to Dave's comment: The Frank James/Archie Clement photo is indeed legitimate. It wasn't part of the original Myers collection, but was bought from Carl Breihan - a historian. The photo was obviously the source of a drawing or engraving made from it that appeared in a contemporary period newspaper, thereby proving its provenance. It appears to me to be the only photo in the Cantey-Myers collection that is legitimate, with the possible exception of a photograph of Boone Scholl, obtained from Scholl's descendants and also not part of the original Myers collection. One would think it would be obvious to anyone that the images in the collection purported to be of Jesse James are a half-dozen or more different people, especially when compared to the several photos of James of known provenance and legitimacy. The same is true of the purported Quantrell photos in the collection - obviously several different people who look nothing like each other and who look nothing like the one image of Quantrell that is known without doubt to be for real (although one or two exist that might possibly be him).
