Hi, I'm not sure if I am allowed as a member of this thread, but would like to join the group if possible.
I am a direct descendant of Givens Masterson Horn(e), the "e" is debatable.
He was father to Berry Hart Horne, who was father to my father, Robert Paul Horne.

I live in Topsham Maine, and have been given many items from my father's family history.
Attached is Given's portrait.

I read online in the book "Caught between 3 Fires..," by Tom Rafiner, that he was known locally as a Bushwacker and member or Quantrill's Raiders/Partisans, participating in the Lawrence massacre.

The 7th Kansas had taken wagons, horses, supplies and slaves from the farm, leaving it destitute, and he joined the Raiders in response.

My Uncle Bill, my father's brother, reports that he was known as a school master and "real son of a bitch." My grandfather, Berry Hart, ran away from home at the age of 13 to NYC, allegedly due to Given's cruelty.

I have an original picture of him.

Rob Horne,
Topsham ME
