Occupational trait. This reminds me of a German friend of mine whose father won the Iron Cross at Verdun in WWI. In WWII, he was called back into the Army and served as a Reserve Captain, assigned as Commandant of an Army Disciplinary Barracks became of his occupation as a Head Master.
