Thanks for the follow up Kirby. As always, I am amazed at your ability to piece the many tidbits of disparate history together to paint a fascinating picture of events.
To kind of close the loop, multiple reports list the father of the brothers, WC Todd and JD Todd, as Thomas D Todd. I think this Thomas D Todd would be the brother of Neriah Todd (b 1804), father to the original Capt Thomas Waller Todd. The reason I postulate this is that Neriah's father was a Thomas D Todd (b 1771) who's uncle was Thomas D Todd (abt 1748). You get the drift lots of Thomas D Todds and by the time the family divides further we have lots of Thomas Todds running around in North Central and NW Missouri by the mid 1800's.
To add to the confusion there was a Thomas Todd, Revolutionary Soldier who lands in central Missouri as well. He was from Halifax VA and not Rowan Co and has been conflated with the family online due to an error in a DAR/SAR application in the early 1900's. This has been corrected by the more discerning genealogists and proven with DNA since 2011 but the confusion persists because once on the internet it's got to be true, right?
So I have yet to prove with primary documentation that the father of WC and JD was really Neriah's brother and not Neriah's father Thomas D Todd (b 1771 d 1857). But I am working on it!
