We've explored Clement Fowler as maybe participating in the Fulton Raid and that he's a good possibility -- What about William Fowler? Sometime after the war an undated article from the Mexican Evening Ledger listed a number of Audrain County Confederate veterans and noted Confederate headstones were going to be put on their gravesites. The names of their units were listed. One of the names was William Fowler of "Capt. Purcell's Ranger Sharp Shooters."
So...if anybody has data on William Fowler that might help pin down the specific "Captain Fowler" being referred to in newspaper reports.
