A most tangled and confused web this unit had. It eventually got straightened out but Halleck had his hands full trying to make sense of what Fremont and Gov Charles Robinson had done. Lane had a feud going with Robinson at the time which I am sure did not help the situation.

No where do I see Walley listed as an officer with a Kansas unit but I think it odd he did not participate with them.
As to Home Guard units getting pensions I defer to Kirby. He is the expert on unit formations and types. In SEMO the Marble City Guards were a home guard unit and only those that went on to serve with a PEMM or 90 days with an MSM unit or some sort of special carve out like Cochran from Bollinger Co appear to have received pensions.
