This may not be pertinent since you believe he died at Blackwell Station, MO, but in my book, "Mars Gets New Chariots...", I describe attacks on trains and here is an entry: On the night of 3 Sep 1861, secessionists of St. Joseph, MO carefully burned or sawed thru parts of a bridge n the Platte River just ten miles east of their hometown. Moving along at 25 mph, a troop train proceeded smartly to its destruction, unaware that anything was wrong and with a seemingly intact bridge ahead. When the engine crossed the bridge, it collapsed, killing at least 13 Feds and injuring 75. Casualties would have been higher had survivors not extinguished a fie and built a bonfire to warn other trains. Thomas Goodrich, Black Flag...guerilla warfare on the western border, 1995. pg 8 , 9. One report claimed some women and children were also on the train. Have you tried searching on findagrave? HTH
