Re: George Jones captured w Andrew Tice
In Response To: Re: George Jones ()

I have no doubt this George Jones was with Purcell at the time--Purcell had absorbed most of the stray Boone County troops whose commands had already disintegrated. But when Jones was captured he said he was under "Col. McKinney" which would suggest some kind of affiliation with Harvey McKinney, who originally recruited the Blackfoot Rangers but had been promoted out of it to serve as Poindexter's second in command. The Blackfoot Rangers seem to have spent most of their time with Purcell. Mudd's list of the Blackfoot Rangers includes "Washington Jones." Wonder if that could possibly be suggestive of a "George Washington Jones."
When captured my George Jones was with just one another man (as opposed to some of these mass captures which were going on at the time). And that other man he was with was Andrew Tice.
