Re: George Jones captured w Andrew Tice

A George N F Jones popped up on the 1850 census with Lewis W Jones.(brother) Tracking him down leads to a number of military records including a surrender parole in New Orleans where he is listed as Srgt Co F of Perkins Battalion MO Infantry under command of none other than our friend Capt George W Rowland. https://www.fold3.com/image/192309528

Other entries for him include:
Sergt Major Campbells Co 3rd Bttn MO Cav

Capt Searcy's Co, Dorsey's Regt Mtd Inf MSG
A CSA March 25, 1863 pay chit listing him as as the above for $250 from 17 Dec 61 to 17 June 1862
This pay chit is from the receiving officer at Richmond VA for exchanged prisoners. This is consistent with the Minor Winn story. Same place and time with the same officer signing off. In the interview record Jones claims he enlisted 27 July 1862 in Company H, Col. Pointdexter's Regt Mo Vol Cav.

He is then listed as Co H Capt H.G. McKinney's Company attached to 5th MO Infantry. He lands in the hospital in Vicksburg gets attached to Jones Artillary has a Vicksburg surrender parole. There is a muster roll from 5th MO Infantry that identifies him as enlisting with Pointdexeter in Boone Co August 1862. https://www.fold3.com/image/121550794

Therfore I suggest this is your George Jones. Just too many commonalities. Andrew Tice is being difficult.
