OBITUARY. Died, nt her home in Morgan Twp, June 26th, 1891. Mrs. Nancy Morgan, wife of Maj. Wick Morgan, aged 63 yrs. The parents of the deceased were naniev Frederick and Bcbceca Worley. They were of German descent, born and breu m Washington County. Virginia. They moved to Putnam County, Indiana, in an early day, where Nancy, the deceased was born. They moved to Dade Comity in IS 10 and pitched their tent at Seyberts mill lor a short time. They settled the farm that Ike Sloan lives on. Her father died and was buried at the treyhort farm in 1810. Her half brother, 8amuel 8 Smith, married Ilebeeea Taylor in 1843 lie went back to Indiana to settle up her fathers estate and died there. His wid ow, Aunt Rebecca, married Uncle Dick Solomon. Her half sister, Eliza Smith, married James M. Dicti in 1843 died initio and was buried at the Cnele Ned Lieu? farm. Her half brotlmr, Elias Worley, died at Milford Barton Co., in 1883. Her mother died in 1838 ami was buried at the Dieus Cemetery. Mrs. .Morgan joined the ChrMian Church under the preaching of Elder Thos. Barret at the JTeekiah school house, one mile south of Melville, in 1818, and has lived a faithful and true Christian ever since. She always visited the sick md atllieted, and administered to their wants. She fed Hie hungry and clothed the miked, and distributed charity to all as far as she was able. She was an in valid many years of her life from I 0 tip tothetimw of her death and suffered severely, but she boro it with Chilian fortitude. She was a model Cliriftian and loved by all who knew her, .and those who knew her best loted her most. She has left a husband airl six children to mourn for her besides all who knew her. Her funeral Mas preached by Rev Wm. Ii. Russell, at her residence, on Sunday June 23th. A large concourse of men, women and children were present. After service her it mains wero convejed to tho Rice Cemetery, tho procession being one of the largest ever assembled in Morgan Township.

Wick rec'd invalid pension 4 Apr 1888 listing service as Major 76 EMM and 7 PEMM and then 15th MO Cav.

Typed notes from a book Major "Wick" William Watson Morgan's Guide to California 1854-Overland describe day by day of his trip by wagon train to California. Their train consisted of "Cal" Samuel Calvin Dicus, "Jim" ? Dicus and "Wick" Morgan, owner; teamsters-Langston Cook, Dodge Smith; general helpers-Cain Cantrell, Bill Alexander, Dick Johnston, John Winkle, wife and family. They left Dade County, MO April 13, 1854 and arrived at Red Bluff, California on the Sacramento River September, 1854. Wick came home to Dade County Christmas, 1856, and mentions his hounds still recognized him.
