John G. Woods resigned from the 5th MSM (old) in Sept 1862--he rose to captain before he resigned. Lived in St. Joseph during the 1863 draft registration. Joined the 12th Missouri as a private in Sept 1863 and served as regimental commissary sergeant Nov 1863 to Feb 1864. Was promoted to 1st Lt and regimental commissary March 1864, then captain of company K effective Sept 1, 1864. Neither the 5th MSM nor the 12th Missouri had any doings in Boone County that I am aware of. I don't think he's the one.
