I think he probably is buried there. Find-a-grave has his death as Aug 7, 1874 vs the church record entry at Locust Grove UMC as Aug 6, 1894. The '94 date is the correct one I am sure. 7 vs 9 on an old stone is not unusual. Certainly Locust Grove was the Hatton family cemetery for several generations. Some one needs to go walk it and talk to the caretaker at the church.
