Re: Cavalry operations in Missouri

Along with a few EMM, most, if not all, of the MSM and Volunteer cavalry units, along with Volunteer infantry, in north Missouri were rushed to Jefferson City where they built breastworks and manned them as Price approached. These troops, including the unmounted cavalry in the trenches, did not heavily engage in battle at Jefferson City though, since Price thought better of testing those pretty serious defenses and moved right on past them. After which the federal cavalry mounted back up and took up the pursuit from Price's rear as the troops from Kansas and eastern Missouri advanced in his front.
