Attention to the strip of land at southern end of Cherokee County KS that is 6 miles tall i.e one township square.

The raid descriptions all relate that Mathews and Livingston rode into Humboldt from the south. Not sure I can recocile a "strip of territory" in Allen county that fits the description. The Quapaw strip is clearly adjacent to Newton County MO a favorite stomping ground of Livingston and the MO KS antebellum border war.
