Citizen James Patterson Crockett of Cedar Co. was tried by military commission in Bates Co by 6th Iowa in August 1861. Interestingly he was acquitted of all charges.

David Crockett was captured near Humansville, tried in Osceola in April 1862 and sentenced to imprisonment for duration of the war.
