Another tidbit you likely know about but while double checking newspapers it popped up.

PURCELL AT WORK. We learn that Assistant Provost Marshall Stauber was captured yesterday between Fulton and Mexico, in the stage, by some of Purcell's guerrillas. The rebels stole the horses out of the stage, and took possession of the mail. The band is being pursued with some prospect of their being overtaken.

Of course we know Purcell was surrendered and paroled in 1865 at end of war.
