Yep that's the way I read it.

I scrounged around to look for possible burial sites. 3 possibilities in Prairie Township given the Littleby address in 1860 census. Littleby post office was 2 miles north of Progress on Littleby creek. Littleby Baptist Church and Littleby Methodist Church have cemeteries. Littleby Baptist still exists and has a Rush Hill address today, though located closest to the historic town. There is a third cemetery and largest of them all at Rush Hill. The churchs cemeteries have marked graves, the oldest are early 1880's. Rush Hill is the oldest with graves marked as early as 1860. No Purcell's listed in any of them.

Consideration should also be given to the fact that YA Purcell's land grant was further west in the county, essentially at the Boone county border and Centralia. In fact it may be in Centralia city limits now.
Certainly lends credence to how he may have been there for the massacre.
