Best fit is John Wilson of Blue twsp, Jackson county. A bit long in the tooth being born in 1805 per the 1860 census but was a large slave owner with 21 slaves in the 1860 slave schedule, 10 in 1850. Note he is a merchant. Thus we have a mechanic, barber/tailor, and a merchant. I am starting to see a trend here.

Per his daughter's Julia (Hocker) obituary 1925. This John Wilson became the founder of Chrisman-Sawyer Banking Company, Independence, Missouri which still exists today. Conrad in Encyclopedia of Missouri History confirms. So this guy wasn't killed in 1864....so I'll dig some more but the choices are slim. --JJR
