Kirby and Dr. Russell,
I have been studying the 1876 Plat Book of Howard County, Missouri
https://digital.shsmo.org/digital/collection/plat/id/7740
This is Page 21 of the Plat Book and is Franklin Township
I do not think the scalping took place at the Turner land purchased from the government.
If you look at the plat I referenced, this is what you will find:
William H Long - 320 Acres - T49N, R16W, Section 10
Reubin Long - 172 Acres and 155 Acres - Sections 11 and 12
W. F. Turner - 320 Acres and 59 Acres - Sections 45 and 15
Ira Turner - 121 Acres and 129 Acres - Sections 15 and 22

These farms are all in close proximity to each other a little to the northeast of New Franklin.
