Re: L S Talbot

This is Lycurgus S Talbot, born abt 1838, son of Lawson and Ann Talbot. He is listed as a 22 y/o clerk living in Liberty, Clay County MO in the 1860 census. He is found in 1850 census with family in Liberty. Lawson is dead between 1850 na 1860. He is listed in the student roster of the the US Military Academy in 1856. He ends up as a CSA Capt. Ordnance Officer of Hebert's Brigade enlisting in June 1862 appointed to position July 1862. He died at Demopolis, Aug 16, 1863. He was captured and paroled at Vicksberg July 4, 1863. His letter of recommendation from the Missouri delegation to Richmond confirms he spent 3 years at West Point before taking a position with General Price. (presumably MSG role)

Interestingly his younger brother Richard P S Talbot went to the Naval Academy.
