The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: What's happened to Civil / Border war history?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but is anyone doing original research anymore on Missouri topics? I started in pre-internet when a trip to the Archives or a Univ. Library was required to view material, spent time traveling, motels, gas, parking fees, microfilm fees, etc. Had a lot of fun with my family but it was tedious. I have amassed a huge library (that I'll have to give away or to Goodwill or get pennies on the dollar.) Even my own local libraries say they don't want CW books even for free! My local community college tells me they don't buy books anymore--what's that all about? Not everything is about publishing, but I researched for personal knowledge and simple satisfaction and learned a lot. I believe the interest is gone. Just my take.
