Got it worked out with primary census, marriage, wills, and death certificates. Lots of name duplications. Lots of misplaced generations perpetuated by on or two trees.

Jasper > Solomon Sr. > Solomon Jr > James Commodore/Compton Reed

There appears to be no connection to the Solomon Reed in the 1860 census in Wyandote Co Kansas other than he too had a Matthias.
