Interested in receiving any information regarding the formation and early movement's of the 22nd Missouri(US) infantry. My 3rd Great Grandfather was a private in Cap't Rice's Company (Co. F). His records indicate enlistment at Macon in October 1861. Since it seems the 22nd was one of the 'Illinois' regiments(similar to the 10th MVI), was enlistment at Macon in Missouri or Illinois. Seems odd to me that he (and his brother-in-law) would travel so far west to Macon, Missouri to enlist.
