In the annals of Civil War history, Cole Younger had been, at times, accused of executing Union POW’s. Recently in a conversation with a friend, this person related to me that he had read somewhere that after the Battle of Lone Jack, Missouri, a wounded Union officer had commended Younger for his mercy shown to wounded, in an incident at a makeshift hospital where Younger prevented the shooting of Federal wounded by guerillas. Can anyone comment as to the veracity of this? Did this really happen?
