In Response To: Re: Missouri State Guard ()

Gentlemen, thank you for all the posts. This info matches what I have except for his place of death- he died in Wilburton, OK. The things that keep me questioning is the obituary that references Capt Beaty's command- if there was no capt Beaty-, and why would he claim to have been a capt when so many people of the time would have known the truth? My grandfather knew him and his brother LP, and Benj told him himself that he was a Capt. He kept his pistols- we have one- and I thought only officers were allowed to keep their pistols. If it wasn't for the obit I would say he was just a scoundrel that lied and must have gotten his pistol some other way- but the obit references a capt Beaty in the MSG, and there is no "official" record of one. THUS MY BEFUDDLEMENT! Thank you once again for all your help. If anybody comes across anything let me know. Everything still does not add up to me.
