According to the book "Branded as Rebels", compiled by Joanne C. Eakin & Donald R. Hale.
Benjamin Beaty was born in Henry County, Missouri on April 26, 1839, and on January 26, 1861, enlisted in CO. E, 1st Missouri Cavalry, C.S.A. At the battle of Oak Hill, he received a wound in his foot. After the war he returned to Henry County and farmed.
It does not mention his rank. However, the National Park Service's "Soldiers and Sailors system" shows him in the 16th Infantry, Missouri, C.S.A. He is listed as a Private.
Lewis P Beaty was Born in Henry County, Missouri on October 16, 1835. On July 20, 1862 he enlisted in CO. F, 16th Mo. Infantry, C.S.A. He surrendered at Shreveport, Louisiana on June 5, 1865 and returned to Henry County. On September 2, 1873, was elected Judge of the County Court and was re-elected every year until 1882. He was a farmer.
