Bruce-A couple more thoughts: (1) There are indications of skirmishing outside Boonville between Shelby and local units in mid-October 1863. This Home Guard unit could have been returning home to Cole County after these engagements. (2)Rolln Mill is most likely either an abbreviation or a misspelling. As a place name, it was common for a grist mill to be named after its owner or operator. For example, Gooch's Mill is located in Cooper County not far north of Hickam Cemetery. Alternatives for Rolln Mill would include Roll's Mill, Rollin's Mill or Raughlings' Mill.
