Hello Hal, I find your post interesting as I met Mr.Simmons at a Jesse James Gathering some years back in Mo.
He was interesting to talk with and gave me an autographed book of his "Jesse James the real Story."
At the time I felt he was somewhat confussed, as he had Another impostor named J.Frank Dalton as his gr.grandfather Jesse James that died in Granbury,Texas in 1951.
The book has many photographs of the three different families, James, Simmons and Dalton.

As I recall he was in line for the J.Frank Dalton exhumation in 1951 to claim kin. Turned out they dug up a one armed man and Jesse had two,with a finger missing.....
